StepStore Privacy Policy

The latest privacy and usage terms for StepStore.

1. Information We Collect

StepStore collects the following types of information to provide its core functionality:

Health and Activity Data

With your permission, StepStore reads step count, walking/running distance, and active calories from Apple HealthKit on iOS or Health Connect on Android. We use step count to calculate unlock credit, and distance and active calories to show progress statistics. StepStore does not write health data back to HealthKit or Health Connect.

App Blocking and Screen Time Data

StepStore lets you choose apps or app categories to shield until you earn walking credit. On iOS, Apple's Screen Time and Family Controls frameworks protect the details of your selection; StepStore stores the selection token and summary counts needed to apply shields. On Android, StepStore may store selected app names, package identifiers, icons, unlock windows, and block-attempt counts in order to provide app blocking.

Onboarding and Settings Data

We store your daily step goal, selected apps, cooldown settings, language, theme, notification preferences, subscription status, walking credit balance, streaks, and progress. This data is kept locally on your device.

Notifications

If you enable notifications, StepStore schedules local reminders for walking goals, unlock windows, and cooldowns. We do not register for remote push notifications.

Analytics and Product Usage

We use Firebase/Google Analytics and Meta App Events (Meta Pixel / Facebook SDK) to measure app performance and marketing campaign effectiveness. Analytics events are limited to app-level actions such as app install, paywall views, trial starts, and subscription conversions. We do not share your health data, step count, distance, or calorie information with any analytics or advertising network. StepStore does not use the Apple Advertising Identifier (IDFA) and does not prompt for App Tracking Transparency (ATT) consent. Advertising campaign data collected through these services is used solely for measuring campaign performance and improving the app — it is never used to build individual ad profiles or serve you targeted ads within StepStore.

Subscription and Purchase Data

We use Adapty to manage paywalls, trials, subscriptions, purchase restoration, product eligibility, and subscription status. Purchases are processed by Apple App Store or Google Play, depending on your platform.

Optional Feedback

If you answer an optional paywall feedback survey, we may collect your selected answers and any note you choose to submit for feedback purposes.

2. How We Use Information

We use information to:

  • Calculate walking credit and unlock minutes
  • Shield and temporarily unlock selected apps
  • Show stats, widgets, streaks, awards, and daily progress
  • Schedule local reminders
  • Manage subscriptions and trials
  • Improve product reliability and user experience
  • Prevent abuse or diagnose issues
  • Respond to support, privacy, or deletion requests

3. Local Storage

Most StepStore data is stored locally on your device, including your wallet state, selected targets, onboarding profile, notification preferences, language, theme, and widget state. Removing the app or clearing app data may delete locally stored information. We do not maintain a user account or sync your data to our servers.

4. Third-Party Services

We may share limited data with service providers that help us operate StepStore, including:

  • Firebase / Google Analytics — app install and event analytics for product improvement; health data is never shared
  • Meta App Events (Facebook SDK) — app install attribution and campaign performance measurement; only app-level events such as install, paywall interaction, and subscription conversion are reported; health/step data is never transmitted
  • Mixpanel — anonymous product usage analytics for understanding app behavior and improving the user experience
  • Adapty — subscriptions, paywalls, and purchase status
  • Apple HealthKit / Screen Time frameworks — permission-based platform functionality (iOS)
  • Google Health Connect / Android system services — permission-based platform functionality (Android)
  • Apple App Store and Google Play — billing and subscription management

5. What We Do Not Do

StepStore does not:

  • Sell your personal data
  • Read your messages, posts, purchases, photos, contacts, microphone, camera, or location
  • Share health data, step count, distance, or active calorie data with any advertising or analytics network
  • Use the Apple Advertising Identifier (IDFA) or display the App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt
  • Write data to Apple Health or Health Connect
  • Require an account login for core use
  • Collect browsing content from selected apps or websites

6. Permissions

You can control permissions from your device settings:

  • Health permissions can be changed in Apple Health (iOS) or Health Connect (Android)
  • Screen Time / app-blocking permissions can be changed in iOS Settings or Android system settings
  • Notification permissions can be changed in system settings or inside StepStore where available

7. Retention and Deletion

Local app data remains on your device until you delete it, clear app data, or uninstall StepStore. Analytics, feedback, and subscription records may be retained by our service providers for business, security, legal, and operational purposes.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your personal data, including the right to access, correct, delete, or object to processing. Because most data is stored locally on your device, many of these rights can be exercised directly through the app or device settings.

9. International Transfers

Our service providers may process information in countries other than your own. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for international data transfers, consistent with applicable data protection laws.

10. Children's Privacy

StepStore is intended for general wellness and productivity use. It is not directed to children under 13 years of age (or the applicable age threshold in your jurisdiction).

11. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information processed by or on behalf of StepStore. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this document and provide notice where appropriate (e.g., within the app or on the App Store listing).
